Snow flurries and Thanksgiving

So this is what we woke up to, beautiful snow flurries. I can honestly say that we will probably have a crazy winter. But as usual it ended and didn't stick. So no SNOW DAY!!!!

So next week is Thanksgiving and I have decided to make Mexican Corn bread and Buttermilk custard pie. Every year I eat until I am about to pop, and I always say "I am not going to eat as much this year". HA, that never happens. One of my favorite Thanksgiving memories dates back to when I was about six, we would all pile up in my grannies Plymouth and head to Smithfield, NC to my aunt Lucille's house. As we entered you would find a table with an assortment of appetizers and what nots. My favorite was the sweet baby pickles and crackers. Then as you head into the dining room Aunt Lucille had a table that was dedicated to deserts, she had every pie, cake and strudel you could think of. My Aunt Lucille was married to my Uncle Waylon which is my grannies brother. He ran for mayor of Smithfield way back before I was even thought of. Don't mean to get off the subject but I like to tell my readers or as my little brother says "my public" a little about each family member so you will know just a smidge about them. Anyways back to the Holiday feast, my grannies family always knew how to pull a holiday dinner off. Whether it be the china laid out pretty to the smell of the house cooking some fine southern food, the Broadwell's knew how to cook.

This year I am most thankful for my family and my faith. These two very important people in my life is what keeps me going because we all know that this year has not been it's best for anyone. So keep that in mind as you sit down next Thursday to enjoy your meal and family ad be thankful for all that you have.
