Christmas is in the air

Today me and Mike went Christmas shopping and we are 90% done YAYAYAYAY!!!! This year I will be making all my gifts with the exception of two, so I will be busy for the next three weeks. I will be making tile pictures, vintage pincushions, wreaths, button tress and many more items.

I bought most of my supplies at the Scrape Exchange. They have a ton of items for discount prices and also vintage items too. My little brother and sister love going there and making things for their rooms.

Next week I will be debuting Fattycake Designs and month early so you all can get a feel of me and my sisters creations. I will also be featuring a few jewelry pieces on the blog as well. I'm off to start sorting through my Christmas items.... have a great night.

Black Friday

Well in my whole 28 years on this Earth I have never shopped on the famous Black Friday, but today was different. Yes at 5 o'clock this morning I was in line at Belks because they were giving away gift cards and to my surprise they were gone within five minutes. HAHAHA!!! I immediately left and went home to spend time with my husband. I have never been the one to wait for deals or stand out in front of stores all night to get a $300 laptop. So I did it and it's done with, and no more Black Friday for me.

I hope all of you had a wonderful Thanksgiving and now I'm off to decorate my house for Christmas!!!!

Snow flurries and Thanksgiving

So this is what we woke up to, beautiful snow flurries. I can honestly say that we will probably have a crazy winter. But as usual it ended and didn't stick. So no SNOW DAY!!!!

So next week is Thanksgiving and I have decided to make Mexican Corn bread and Buttermilk custard pie. Every year I eat until I am about to pop, and I always say "I am not going to eat as much this year". HA, that never happens. One of my favorite Thanksgiving memories dates back to when I was about six, we would all pile up in my grannies Plymouth and head to Smithfield, NC to my aunt Lucille's house. As we entered you would find a table with an assortment of appetizers and what nots. My favorite was the sweet baby pickles and crackers. Then as you head into the dining room Aunt Lucille had a table that was dedicated to deserts, she had every pie, cake and strudel you could think of. My Aunt Lucille was married to my Uncle Waylon which is my grannies brother. He ran for mayor of Smithfield way back before I was even thought of. Don't mean to get off the subject but I like to tell my readers or as my little brother says "my public" a little about each family member so you will know just a smidge about them. Anyways back to the Holiday feast, my grannies family always knew how to pull a holiday dinner off. Whether it be the china laid out pretty to the smell of the house cooking some fine southern food, the Broadwell's knew how to cook.

This year I am most thankful for my family and my faith. These two very important people in my life is what keeps me going because we all know that this year has not been it's best for anyone. So keep that in mind as you sit down next Thursday to enjoy your meal and family ad be thankful for all that you have.

A thank you and house sitting

First off I just want to thank Cindy, my partner in Hop Hop Jingle Boos paper doll swap, for the lovely gifts she sent me. I absolutely love the hand made pin, paper doll and bag,oh and love the cookie cutter. Cindy you were too kind, thanks a lot!!!

This week me and Mike have been house sitting for our dear friends Harriet and Winslow. We have had the pleasure of enjoying their dogs Lighting and Wendy. Tomorrow is our last day, too sad..... But this weekend should be fun.

I will officially be decorating my house for CHRISTMAS!!!! I usually wait til after Thanksgiving but I can't wait this year. I have already found the Christmas music station in my car. Well I'm off to do some work with Mike, have a great day.

Sweet Sunday

Today at church we presented our boxes for operation Christmas Child, me and Mike made two. As the preacher announced for everyone to bring their box I was over come with emotion. These little children will receive items in a box that are stocking stuffers to us. It made me think how truly blessed I am and how much my family is blessed. You don't have to have every material item to be blessed but only your family and the blessings God gives you. I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend. See you later this week!!

One Little Candle

As you all know my little sister is deaf but she can hear. Elizabeth has two cochlear implants and that has allowed her to listen, speak and let me hear her BEAUTIFUL VOICE. Also her favorite color is Aqua so I thought it only to be fitting that I write in this beautiful color in her honor. This morning I arrived at my mothers house as I do most days of the week to visit and my little sister is in her room singing, well most people wouldn't think it was singing but in her case is it. I walked down the hall and saw her sitting at her vanity singing a Christmas tune to herself. As I walked into her room I startled her and she said "no looking , no looking Molly", so I turned around and waited. She then proceeds to tell me in her own way that she is memorizing two Christmas songs to sing to us on Christmas day. I became overjoyed and almost cried.

Well this year she is in fourth grade and when you get in fourth grade you can be in chorus, her only deli ma is she can not sing, carry a tune or keep on track according to the chorus rules, which is fine. This whole first part of the school year all her friends are in chorus and I think it really bothers her that she cannot be singing and having fun like her "normal" friends. So she has somehow swiped the lyrics from the music room and is learning them on her own. Elizabeth is very smart the only subject she can be graded on is math and on Friday they received report cards and she received a 93 in math which is an A. She can do multiplication tables like no body's business, HAHAHA!!!

My baby sister is only 11, but she can blow you out of the water with her abilities. I can only imagine how Christmas day will turn out with her songs she is learning. Words cannot explain how much love I have for her and how beautiful, smart and loving this sweet child is. I remember the first day I saw her, she was laying in the nursery at the hospital waiting for us to bring her home. Her mother was mentality ill and the courts had terminated her rights to Ronald and Elizabeth. I do not know what my life would have been like had we not adopted these two beautiful children.

I already have my Christmas gift and that's the gift of a child overcoming what others say she can't. So Elizabeth this is to you my child of God, sing to the high heavens and let us hear your voice.

Prayer, Praise and Proclamation

I just have one word for the happenings for this week WOW!! As you all know I am a Christian and I stand true to the word of the Lord and I try my hardest to live by them. For the past six months me and my husband have fallen on hard times, I nearly died when my appendix ruptured, we have lost some locations and almost lost our whole lively hood. But the one thing that we didn't loose was our FAITH IN GOD. We prayed daily and gave our situation up to him and let him fix it the way it needed to be fixed. We have also prayed that we wanted to do more work for the Lord and by that I mean either mission work or Mike becoming a pastor. And last but not least we have prayed for a baby, whether we conceive or by adoption. Up until this week we have struggled, triumphed and hoped that our FAITH IN GOD would lead us on a path for which we could not see. I can honestly say that the Lord works in mysterious ways. As for the title prayer, praise and proclamation here it is as follows:

Prayer: Although we might have lost material items our prayers came through. With just a little patience not only did we loose locations but we gained locations in their place. It might have took awhile but our prayers were answered, if we don't have machines out there we make no money(that's the joy of being self employed :( . As far as mission work goes I think Mike wants to pursue becoming a pastor. Last Sunday at church our dear friends Harriet and Winslow told us that they had visited some old friends at Campbell University and that Harriet had a revelation. She proceeded to find out all the information on scholarships and funding so Mike could attend seminary school. We have been researching this all out to make sure this is what we want to do and also praying more about where God wants us minister to people.

Praise: I am praising God that I have finally finished the quilt that I have been making my little sister for Christmas. This past summer God showed me my creative side and it has just blossomed from there. And to also give me the strength to walk a mile on the tread mill every day. Thank you Lord!!!

Proclamation: I am truly saddened at how the election turned out, I just hope that he can live up to his plan and everything that he has proclaimed to do for the economy.
