3 days left!!

Whoa Nelly!! There are only three days left to act on the 20% off sale in my shop!! Run on over there and browse awhile!! www.LittleSundaysStudio.etsy.com
Other news in the Pearce household, is that I am embarking on a new adventure in jewelry making. I have found the coolest little shop where I live, I didn't even know it existed! A little shop tucked in the corner of the block hidden by trees and flowers. I would love to work there but I know my whole paycheck would go right back to them, HA HA. I spent hour upon hour there this past week and found lots of neat and funky things to make fabulous jewelry. Can't wait to show you my creations!
I have also eaten enough cake for 20 million people this past week in honor of my birthday. My mom took me out for dinner and brought a huge cake and then sent it home with me. Then my dad gave me a cake to take home as well. I will not be craving cake for a while. Have you ever eaten so much of something the thought makes you sick?
I'll be back tomorrow with a normal post and some pictures of the goods I got at the bead shop!!

P.S. you like the new song on here? Me and Mike were listening to the radio Friday night in the kitchen and this song by Cascada came on and we jammed while washing dishes, HA HA!! Hope it makes you jam too!!

In True Life as said by Ronald

"True Life" is what I hear when Ronald is telling a true story or asking if something is true. I have come to start saying it as well. About a month ago I watched my baby brother and sister for a week before school let in and we.had.a.blast! We did crafts, ate at Subway too many times, watched movies and told ghost stories while it thundered outside. On the day it thunder stormed we told some "true life" ghost stories that freaked us out. I came home wanting to leave all the lights on and slept with the covers over my head. HA HA, yes I do that on a regular basis :) I'm a fraidy cat! We shall call the story, Haunted Little Street.
When my daddy was little he lived on a street with not a lot of other houses around except one that was at the end. Foreword: my daddy came from nothing and I mean nothing, so to him this was a treat to go inside a real haunted house. He had an out house, 9 siblings, ate squirrel, had a shirt with someone else's name on it for picture day( he got it from the salvation army) and lost his daddy at age nine. Him and his brother Bill had always heard that a doctor lived in the house and did all sorts of things, maybe even experiments on people. I know spooky right! One night they decided to go and look inside one of the windows. When they finally reached the house it was well past midnight and the moon was high and fog was low. They peered inside and saw metal tables, all sorts of instruments, doctors coat with stains on it (maybe blood) and a long staircase that lead upstairs and downstairs. They decided they would get more friends to come because they thought the more people with them the more likely no ghosts would jump out at them.
The next night they had rounded up about three extra friends and decided to enter the old house. The door creaked when they opened it and the floors moaned. They started walking up the stairs to investigate. As they were entering the examining room they felt a sharp cold air hit their bodies. They also heard footsteps coming down the hall. My daddy says he has never ran that fast before in his life since that night. The doctor was still there in spirit.
I could go on and on of all the ghost stories my daddy has, especially the one about the ghost that held on to the side of my maw maws car, ooh scary.
This is a "true life" ghost story as Ronald would say and after we heard our round of stories that day we were still scared in the daylight.
Do you have any "true life" ghost stories? If you do I would love to hear them. Have a happy Thursday!!

The Lucky One

North Carolina such a beautiful place to live. There is so much to offer in this quaint state, beautiful beaches, gorgeous mountains and historic sites. As you all know me and Mike love Wilmington NC, beach town, where One Tree Hill is filmed and home of the famous Ghost Walk (our fave). Our state is also home to famous author Nicholas Sparks. I am in love with his books. He has a way of writing like I have ever seen. Normally I don't like adult fiction but he has brought me out of my comfort zone. Last year I read Nights In Rodanthe, yes the house in that movie is on our coast, I want Mike to take me there :) I read that book in one day, it was that good. My step mama bought me The Lucky One, its a little lengthy but I will probably be done today. The Lucky One is about an Iraqi veteran that finds a picture of a woman while on duty and makes it his destiny to find her. Let me tell you its good, go get it and read it. Grab a snack, a coffee, sweet tea, whatever floats your boat but you need to read this book, its just that good. His latest book is The Last Song, which is based out of Wilmington. My surrogate aunt finished it in one day, its just that good. The film rights have been bought for The Lucky One and The Last Song. I can't wait to see them!!!

If you have any good reads that you would love to share please feel free to leave a comment. I will be in need of another good book by this afternoon.

Pearce's Poultry

Oh they are too cute for words!! There's some our flock when they were wee babes back in July. Pearce's Poultry is what we have decided our company name will be. Has a nice ring to it I think, HE HE. Come Easter you can buy a baby chick if ya want!!
For the last couple of months we have hemmed and hawed over how much to sell our eggs for, advertising and even setting up at the Farmer's Market. All the while God had different plans. We had first we thought we would set a price and then donate a few cartons during the week to various soup kitchens and shelters. But Mike always had the feeling God was wanting him to donate or give all the eggs away for free. At first I thought that was kinda crazy because we have spent a lot of time, sweat and money on these chickens and I thought we needed some sort of compensation. We prayed and prayed until God told Mike how to set up the business. All eggs are free and if you want to donate to the help of feeding said chickens that would be greatly appreciated. Mike said he would take anything anyone would offer, whether it be a penny or nothing. I knew from the start this whole chicken process would bring us great joy. Not only will we get to give people in need but the joy of that is unspeakable. I know we're just giving away eggs but that might help a family needing food. Hopefully by the end of next month our little hens will start laying eggs. I can't wait!!

I love this picture, I wonder if I can get it on a business card or something :) Isn't great wanting to help others in need!

Foto Find Friday ~ Hats

This week over at Angie's blog for Foto Friday the theme was hats. This picture was taken last year at our Christmas parade. Ronald was Aladdin in Elizabeth's dance academy for the parade. I love how happy he looks in his costume. At Elizabeth's dance academy they make all of their costumes so they always look unique at recitals and such. I love the fabric they used too, so shiny and bold. So there you have it Ronald as Aladdin in his famous hat. You can visit Angie's blog at www.Angelicagracedesigns.com/blog/ for all of the Foto Find Friday participants. Happy weekend!!

Family and Faith

Eight years ago today I was jamming to Point of Grace on my way to work, when something told me to change the channel. I heard that a plane had crashed into one of the World Trade Center towers, I was shocked. I raced to the beauty shop in search of more information. I had just dropped my baby brother Ronald off at school and we had had a great morning together eating biscuits and colas while waiting in the car line up before school let in. I got to the beauty shop to meet some of my co-workers and they were just as confused as I was. Mama hadn't made it yet but was on her way. My co-worker Llewellyn called to tell me that it was all over the news that it could be terrorists, we were frightened. I was scared because my baby brother was at school and Elizabeth at pre-school. They weren't in my reach and I needed to be with them. As we were talking on the phone Llewellyn said a few choice words as she watched the second plane hit the second tower. She had to go she was so upset and she was crying. As the other stylists arrived at work we were all starting to freak and I knew this couldn't be good. Clients were calling and cancelling appointments and rescheduling. It was a mad house. Total panic had hit and I knew I had to get to my baby siblings. By 10:30 all schools had been cancelled and I went and got the babes. Ronald was confused as to why his fun filled day at Kindergarten was cancelled and we were at home watching the news. I tried so hard to explain in a way that he wouldn't freak out but to no avail he freaked a little. I am somewhat thankful that Elizabeth didn't understand what had happened and played happily with her dolls. The next day there was talk of terrorists bombing schools, so school was cancelled the rest of the week. Me and my brother have a bond like no one will ever know. Those days we spent together worrying what was gonna happen next I will never forget. He got all of his baseball bats together along with his Nerf guns ready to attack. By the next Monday we were back in school and I back at work. We had the florist across the street make us little red, white and blue ribbon pins to wear at the beauty shop honor of what had happened. I still have mine eight years later, a little tattered but still shining bright. As the weeks went on I found out that some clients had actually been there a few days before it happened, one had been in the building early that morning. God saved them. I am not sure why these things happen but I do know that God allows these things to happen for a reason. One reason was my little brother let Jesus in his heart two years later. I remember church on that Sunday after that Tuesday 9/11 and it was so packed, it quickly dwindled after a couple of months. Last week when I met Johnny, my moms client, the 9/11 firefighter, it brought it all back to me. All the feelings, my thoughts, my faith.

And I got the job as food guru

Last night as I was plundering through my cook books I came across a recipe that I had written about nearly 17 years ago. 17 years ago I was in middle school and loving it. My sixth grade year I was on the school newspaper. I had wanted the job as one of the interviewers but as luck had it I got the job as the food columnist.
At first I didn't like the fact that I would be posting weekly recipes and experimenting with foods. I came home that afternoon and told my grandaddy that I had made the school newspaper. He was thrilled! He then asked me what I was going to print it out on. I had no clue, we didn't have a computer or typewriter. I had originally planned on going to my friends house and typing it out there. My grandaddy looked at me and said "we need to get you a typewriter". I was instantly in heaven and loved my new school "job".
We set out the next afternoon in search of the perfect typewriter. We went to many different places but we couldn't find the right one. On the way home we stopped by a used electronics shop. When we walked in we looked around and then we saw "it" sitting all alone on the lonely counter. My grandaddy asked if it worked well and how much it was. The clerk told us it had been used once by an elderly gentleman that didn't want it anymore. My grandaddy was sold and off we went to the house to play. My grandaddy bought me the finest paper and ink so I would be great at my job. When we got home he asked me what recipe I was going to write about in my column. I was puzzled, I didn't know what I was going to write about or which recipe. He gave me my granny's recipe boxes and said that everything I needed would be in there, he was right.
My first column was about Russian Tea, my fave. I wrote about the tastes, texture and how to make it. I even wrote about how to gift it. When I showed my grandaddy my finished draft he loved it. It wasn't long after that, that I was whipping out recipe after recipe, review after review. I got rave reviews on my quick after school snacks and Christmas goodies. Then the paper was shut down after a few months because we couldn't afford to keep it going. I was crushed. My once hate for being the food columnist had turned into a love of it. A love of getting great reviews and making peoples bellies happy. My grandaddy tried to cheer me up with a new stack of pink paper to type on but I was saddened. Through the years the typewriter broke and I threw it away. I wish I hadn't because it held so many memories of me and my grandaddy laughing and deciding which recipes to write about. A few weeks ago Mike and I were at the Office Depot and I saw a replica of the same typewriter. I think I might be getting it for Christmas. Now that would be sweet!

Baubles and Hobo's

Happy Friday friends! Here are a few new Fall items that I love. First is the Hearts A Fire bracelet, this was one of my first items in my shop. This bracelet has a matching necklace too. I love it because you can wear it with anything and the beads are just gorgeous.
My first ever Shabby Hobo bag! Love it, love it, love it! This Fall there is a lot of color going on and this little lime green hobo is just what you need to hold all your "stuff".

I made a big shabby bloom for the front of the bag with a rhinestone button in the middle. I can do custom work, so if you want a particular fabric style or fabric combo just ask!

My all time favorite necklace is this beautiful Smokey Quartz. Made of sterling silver, glass beads and a huge smoky quartz bead on the neck. I love the layered look of this necklace. There are multiple smokey quartz beads throughout this necklace. One of a kind!

Last but not least, the Purple Paisley Hobo bag. I wanted to keep this for myself! Made the same as the lime green bag except does not have a shabby bloom. This is such a beautiful bag, the pictures don't do it justice. Very trendy for Fall! Hope you all have a happy holiday weekend! Check back next week for some cute scarfs and a new necklace I am concocting up, never before seen. Be safe!

Five minutes down a long dirt path

This week the weather has been just beautiful. Cool breezes on cool days, sun shining brightly. Fall only a couple of weeks away and I am so excited! I live way out in the country so most times all I hear is the sweet chirping of birds, my dogs barking, my duck quacking and the crickets at night. I know there is a landing strip a few miles away, so sometimes in the afternoon I can catch the humming of a small plane. Well this morning as I was sitting on the couch sipping vanilla coffee my dogs started barking like crazy and heard what I thought was a low flying plane. I ran to the door to see and low and behold that same airplane that I hear in the afternoon was flying circles right over top of my house. I ran and got the camera and the picture up top is the shot I got, I wanted more but the pilot flew out into the fields. If you click on the picture you might be able to zoom in and see the plane. I wish he would back so I could get some more shots. I never in a million years thought I would love this laid back country life. I never thought I would have chickens and help Mike clean chicken poop. Funny how life changes. I thought last year when we moved I would miss the mall being less than 5 minutes away or running down the street to the grocery. I now drive 25 minutes to the grocery and about 45 minutes to the mall and don't miss it at all. There are two things I miss though, one my mom and the kids being only 10 minutes away and the sound of the train. I love the sound of a train. I hope this afternoon that plane comes back. It was so beautiful to watch, diving up and down. Oh and I have a peach tree that I just found last week. Only thing is the peaches were rotten so I will have to watch for when they harvest again to pick. Have a happy Thursday and come back tomorrow for some new fall goodies!

Wishing Wednesday

Mama and "debwee" (Elizabeth). Debwee was what Ronald called her because he couldn't say Elizabeth. These two are on my heart and need some heavy prayers in the coming months. I love how Elizabeth is the same height as mama, ha ha she's so short. Happy Wednesday!

Johnny

Today I got my hair done, thank the Lord! My "roots" needed touching up and I needed some brown in there for fall and I got a trim. Yeah I look good :) HAHAHA!! I will have to have Mike take a picture of me with my newly fresh "do". Anyways, my mom has a slew of super nice clients and every time I go in to get my hair done I get to see them and meet new ones. Its always fun to reminisce on the days when I used to work there. Oh I had too much fun. Today I met one of my moms sweetest clients, Johnny. She told me that he was sweet, caring and about his pierced ears. So I asked what she meant by the pierced ears and she said, "they were each person he saved". Again I asked what she meant and she said, " he was a 9/11 firefighter". All I could say was "wow". Although I didn't ask him about that day he was very nice and had a demure personality. When he left my mom told me that he couldn't ever talk about that day because of how tragic it was. I could look into his eyes and tell he was a hero and that he loved helping others. Funny the people you meet in life. I would have never thought I would get the chance to meet a 9/11 survivor or rescuer. September is a bittersweet month for me, one its my birthday and two its 9/11. I remember that year when my birthday came around thinking "how can I celebrate another year when so many lost their lives". I now look at it as a triumph that I have an additional year because we don't know what's going to happen the next week, day or hour. Life is precious hold on to it, enjoy it. On 9/11 I can remember driving to work, just dropped off my baby brother Ronald at school and hearing that a plane crashed in New York, then another, I panicked. Not knowing what was happening I rushed to the beauty shop and told my mom. Two hours later school was canceled and I learned the truth. I will never forget that feeling of helplessness and that God was with me. That's why when I met Johnny today I can never know what he must have felt or seen that day. He has seven earrings for seven people.
