Prayer requests

Happy Thursday friends!!! Tomorrow I leave for my little siesta in the sun and can't wait!!! I do have a few prayer requests though that are heavy on my heart.
1. My baby sis is going a day trip to the beach and my mom is chaperoning. I pray that they have a safe trip to and back from the beach and most of all that she has a blast down there with her little girlfriends.
2. Angie over at Angelica Grace Designs is having some medical procedures today and tomorrow and I hope and pray that there is nothing major they find.
3. My baby bro is having a hard time with his EOG tests and I have been pumping him full of positiveness and prayers. I pray he takes his time and doesn't get frustrated, he has ADHD and gets frustrated easily if he doesn't know what to do.
4. I pray that I have a safe siesta and relax with my Mikey and bask in the sun.

Not so wordless Wednesday

Oh just look at that baby's face, so cute and loving. I promise to have new pictures soon because I have been looking in my files and I have no new pictures of me and my family and I know your sick of seeing repeats :)
Here is a new recipe I am trying tonight, I call it Cheesy Chicken Salsa!
You need:
2 chicken breasts
handful of cheese
couple spoonfuls of salsa
1 cup of rice or whatever suits your family
OK so cook your rice and lay in a casserole dish. Then add your chicken breasts on top and layer with salsa and cheese. Bake for about 25 minutes at 350 degrees. I like to serve dishes like this with either toast or a salad.
Enjoy my friends!!

Hoping.....

Yesterday I had the privilege of watching my baby brother and sister while my mom went to do a clients hair for her wedding. We chowed down on hot dogs, chips, ice cream and chili cheese nachos all day and watched movies. Today as I reflected on yesterday I was taken back to an innocence that once was. I can remember being in high school and having to pick my brother up from preschool and wishing I wasn't driving around with a baby seat in my car, today I could care less. I remembered Ronald being my model for photography class and posing and being his cute baby self. I can remember Elizabeth learning her first signs and trying to hide her hearing aides in her toy bins and me chasing after her. Those are the times I can't get back, those are the memories I hold dear to my heart as I watch them grow into loving and smart teens. Never in a million years did I think that they would grow up , why couldn't they stay babies?.

I have done a lot of soul searching this past year and can't quite figure out what God is trying to tell me or what he wants me to do with my life, but I know there's something out there. I have this deep deep hunger to help the less fortunate and give my time. Maybe I'll find it soon because it's driving me crazy thinking about others I could be helping. I dream of having a simple life and nothing more.

Me and Mike are also desperately trying to find a new church and can't quite find one that suits us. We left our church in January due to some personal issues with a member. I can't get into it but it has really broken my heart and I have been praying about this whole situation and what action my family needs to take. My mom, brother and sister stopped going to our church last August and I just can't seem to grasp the possibility of not being in church with them. So we are on the hunt for a new one that we all can go to. I hate not being in church on some Sundays but I feel that God lead us in the right direction to the church that we will love. I hated leaving our home church but I just couldn't stomach not being with my family and seeing the one member that ultimately drove us away from our church.
Sorry for the "spilling of the beans" but I needed to get that off my chest and as Angie at Angelica Grace Designs says, "keeping it real". I have felt like I have been carrying that burden for awhile and now it is lifted. If you all could please pray for my family that we can find a new church soon that would be awesome and much appreciated. I will tell why we left in due time but now is not the time, but soon. I hope you all had a wonderful holiday weekend!!

The Leader of the pack...Vrroom..Vrroom

Way back when I was in elementary school there was a little thing called the Talent Show, oh you know me and my sis had to be in it. One year my mom teased our hair we sang to Pasty Cline, but it was out shining moment when we decided to venture out and do something different. My mom used to let us listen to her records when we were little and we fell in love with the Shangri-La's. Oh we thought they were the best thing since sliced bread. So me and my sis decided to sing one of their songs that year in the talent show and we chose The Leader of the Pack as our song. We got decked out in our finest '60's gear and my mom made our bikes look like motorcycles. Well the night of show had come and me and my sis get on stage and prepare to rock it out!. We get mid song and the sound system goes Ker plunk and we end up singing the rest acoustic style (I think that's the right word?). After our performance we got a standing ovation and loved every minute of it. To celebrate my took us to Hardee's (it doesn't take much to please us) and we chowed down on burgers and shakes. I wish I had some pictures to show but their at my mom's house and I'd have to search high and low for them, trust me. But I did include the song on my play list for your enjoyment, HA HA. I hope you all have an awesome weekend and be safe on the roads.

Blog-o-ver-sary!!!

In honor of my blog-o-ver-sary I am going to host my first swap!! I love paper dolls and anything beachy so the theme is mermaids. I will not post the details of the swap until I get back from my siesta at the end of the month, so stay tuned until June 2ND!!

I can't believe I have had my blog a whole year, I never thought I had that much to say. *snicker* I have made a lot of new friends, done a lot of swaps and even gotten an award(which I didn't know you were supposed to post on your sidebar so I will have to go looking for it in my archives). I hope you all have enjoyed my rambling about my life, although sometimes not the best but REAL. I have enjoyed reading about you all and making such wonderful friendships.

This past year has been a whirlwind: my appendix rupturing, moving, my dads MS rapidly progressing(which is not good), my baby sister learning to read music and play the recorder, my baby brother succeeding in school, my stepbrother becoming a firefighter and me and Mike's business growing successfully. So in honor of that..... I have posted 10 things I am most thankful for.

1. my health

2. my family

3. my FAITH

4. my little Etsy shop

5. my sweet little dogs, Gypsy & Savannah

6. friends I've made

7. my new love for embroidery

8. weathering this recession

9. my new found art skills

10. oh I couldn't forget my MIKEY

Life's a beach in a washer

Very long ago on a warm summer day two little girls felt like going to the beach for the day. They had a warm bowl of peaches and cream oatmeal for breakfast and headed to their room for their swimsuits, towels and beach bags. After donning their little pudgy selves in their suits and sunglasses and packing their beach bags to the hilt with dolls, books, a shaved headed Barbie and some snacks they headed to the kitchen. The older sister climbed to the top of the fridge and took their bags and placed them under the cupboard. She then opened the washer which was right next to the fridge and filled it with cool water and hit the off button. She then helped her little sister up to the fridge and they both crept down and dangled their feet into the washer. Now their grandaddy was no where to be found, so they knew they could relish this moment for a while. The made juicy drinks, snacked on crackers and Vienna sausages and talked about what a lovely summer they where having so far, they even let the shaved headed Barbie join in on the fun. The whole time they wore their sunglasses and beach hats to get the whole beach effect. After about two hours of dangling their feet and chitchatting about little girl talk they decided it was time to get back home. They drained the water out of the washer and packed up their bags. When they returned home, they changed out of their clothes and took a huge bubble bath together. They then got in fresh clothes and enjoyed the rest of their summer afternoon buy coloring and eating Popsicle's in the sun.
This is the first of a summer series I am starting this season. I am taking my memories and turning them into short stories for all to read. I am possibly thinking about a new blog just for my short stories for you to enjoy.

Happy 1st date Mikey

Five years this month, actually it was May 2ND, me and Mike had our first date. We went to Kuramos (Japanese restaurant) and to a movie, 13 Going On 30 to be exact. I was so nervous I hardly talked the whole night. Maybe I should backup to 2 weeks before our date. Me and Mike actually met online in a Christian chat room. I started chatting with him and we talked for a week online and then we talked for a week on the phone before we met. SO now back to the date night, when he brought me home I thought that since I hadn't talk a lot that he wasn't interested, thank God I was wrong. I called him and thanked him again for the dinner and movie and told him that I had a great time but was just nervous. Since that first date we have been together everyday since. By August we were talking about getting married and planing a wedding. People told me I hadn't known him long enough but I knew from our first date that I wanted to marry him. On Christmas eve I knew he was going to pick up my ring from the jewelers and he said he would be back within the hour, he never showed. So if you know me you know that I go into full panic mode and think the worst, are you hurt, dead in a ditch, you know crazy thoughts. He finally showed up after about 3 hours of me panicking and I asked where he was, he had gone to find a special box to put the ring in. That's Mike though if he knows you want something he will go to the ends of the earth to find it. Ten months later we were married. Our love is different from any other, most people would have probably bailed by now but not us. We have had our ups and downs and by that I don't mean our relationship, I mean financially. I have seen a lot of people get divorced over money and not having some grand mansion or some other materialistic thing. Our love is much greater than a "thing". I could be living in a box under a bridge and still love my husband for who he is. Mike has the biggest heart and would literally give you the shirt off his back. He has given his last dollar to a homeless man and bought $30 worth of food for a homeless family we met one day. Words cannot express how much I love him, he is my world, my life. Anybody that meets him is infatuated with him. I have seen him rise and fall and when he fell he got right back up and tried again. His faith in God is unbelievable. He always puts his faith first and I believe that why we have made it in the worst of times. God has a plan for us, I'm not sure what but I know it is a grand one.

Pimento, honey ham, mayo and Swiss

Here's a little southern secret from my Aunt Carol's recipe box:

Pimento cheese, honey ham, mayo & Swiss

All you need is two pieces of whatever bread you like, spread pimento cheese on one slice of bread, layer with honey ham and Swiss cheese, and then spread mayo on the other slice of bread and stack. Now that is a real southern sammy from the Broadwell archives to yours. Enjoy!

Mama's day is around the corner

Sunday is Mama's Day and I thought this would be the perfect opportunity to showcase some of my work. Here are my favorite earrings, Aqua Dreams, they are dangly and light weight. I also have them in an Amber color as well.
Here is the Emme bracelet, which is too cute! I used pink glass balls and sterling silver hearts and small pink pearls to make this bracelet perfect for spring and summer.

This creation is one of my favorites, I named it Click Your Heels Mama! I found little sterling silver high heels, white and tan pearls and glass disc's that have glitter and foil inside. I made one for my mom for her birthday and she LOVED it!

The Hearts A Fire bracelet is a very unique piece. I also have the matching necklace down below. The glass hearts have little flowers inside and I used glass balls and pearls to accent.

You just have to get yourself and your mama a makeup brush roll. I can't tell you how many times I have lost a makeup brush, or ruined the bottom of my purse or makeup bag because I didn't have anywhere to stash my brushes. My bags hold up to 6 brushes and can accommodate little to big brushes as well. The first bag is called Lemon Explosion.

The Raspberry Bliss.

The Polka Dot Splash.

And last but not least the Chocolate Bliss.
I have more creations on my etsy page www.LittleSundaysStudio.etsy.com for you to browse through if you like. If you have a custom request for something please let me know I would love to have the pleasure of creating something beautiful for you.

City chick meets Farmer Chick

Five years ago I met Mike, a southern boy from the country or shall I say Johnston County where there is a ton of farming and my family is from there so I am not totally out of the woods of being sort of a farmer chick. At the time I was a "city" girl, I got my nails done, had a new outfit every week, didn't eat organic foods, never thought I would work "outside" or in that matter be so excited about building a chicken coop and wanting to raise chickens and sell eggs. Now we know by no means that we are going to get rich, we really just want to do it because we know it will be fun, Mike's going to paint the chicken coop Pink for me and this will give us a little bit of pocket change to carry around. Although Mike saw a miniature donkey for sale and wants to buy it, HA HA we'll see. We have done our research and plan on buying Americana's and Brahma's, the Americana's lay pink, blue and green eggs, how cute.
In the past five years I have done a 360 of who I am. I never thought in a million years I would learn how to drive a FedEx truck, deliver packages, work in the "elements" as I say (rain, snow, hotness), have amusement business and now want and be so excited about building a chicken coop. If you knew me before five years ago, you probably wouldn't know me now. I no longer have acrylic nails, my hair isn't fixed everyday and I could totally care less of what people think of me. Some would say I have let myself "go" but I don't think so. I think Mike has brought out a side of me that I didn't know I had. And I thank him for the life he has built for us everyday.
Now this coming up weekend we are going to buy our supplies, so I will defiantly be taking pictures of the whole process. I can't wait for him to paint the chicken coop pink, I mean it is going to have nothing but hens in it so that is the perfect color. I have already been picking out names for them, I like Georgia, Sassy, Millie, Sissy, Lilly, and Prissy. I have been told we are purchasing 6 but there was talk of 8 last night and a miniature donkey so we'll see what happens, I might just have to pick more names :)
Have a great day!!!

Seaside,reunion and our new building

This picture was taken last summer in Wilmington after we had gotten some ice cream to snack on. As you can see that Elizabeth is wearing a boot, she fractured a bone on the top of her foot doing cartwheels in the living room, HE HE. Anyways I found this picture while loading the others and thought I'd share.
Here are some pictures of the reunion we went to this past weekend. Ronald and Elizabeth were "acting" on the old train caboose and wanted me to snap some photo's.

This morning I found this lone flower in my backyard, I think it's an Iris but not sure. If you look hard you can see many little lone things just growing out in the woods of my yard.

And here is out new building!! Here is the inside, I am going to make Mike a curtain, so I am on the hunt for some cute gumballs or gumball machine fabric for him.

I love the loft area, Mike is going to get my dad to help him wire it in the next couple of weeks. He is also going to put a window unit in there so when we are out there working we're sweating like crazy.

Here is a side view of the building. I love it so much I think I might get one for me to have for all my crafts and stuff.

Here is the front view, it even came with keys so we could lock up, although I don't think we'll have a problem seeming as though we live in the woods and down a long gravel path.

We will be saving about $1800 this year just by buying this little building. We are trying to save, save, save so we can buy a little house at the beach. We are working on getting some pier locations down at the beach and by giving up our almost $200 a month storage unit (although I will miss it, it was climate controlled, was gated with a security code, had cameras and a live on site manager I felt safe when people came by to purchase equipment we sold) we will be able to buy more equipment for those locations.
Tomorrow is Elizabeth's production of Aladdin at the Carolina theater, I can't wait to see her in her costume. She will be taking point classes this summer, where she will get to wear the pointed ballerina shoes and the stick out straight tutu. She loves dance and is such a graceful dancer, she will go far. Hope you all have a lovely weekend.
