Revealed

Last summer Mike bought Greg Laurie's book Lost Boy, his autobiography. Mike loved it and couldn't put it down, he was compelled to keep reading and finished in 2 days, I just finished in one. If you don't know who Greg Laurie is, he is an evangelist and is the soul creator of the Harvest Crusades. He is Awesome. As I was reading his book I felt as if he and Jesus were speaking to me. He writes in a way that there are no words to explain. You need to read this book, it will change your life and how you feel about your faith and make you wanna run to the hill tops and profess your faith in this Awesome God we serve and make you wanna recommit your life to Christ.
This past year has been very tough with sickness, financial loss and leaving our home church for a new one. Jesus was with us through all those times when I thought we were at the bottom of the barrel. As I read this book it made me think of how good my faith was in Jesus and how I could commit totally for him. I have struggled with all of this nonsense that our new president has made for this country. He says one thing and does another. I did not vote for him! To me he does not have the same values as I and I can't get over his wanting to put abortion onto an insurance policy. This world saddens me to no end. Teachers in California are handing out condoms to Kindergartners and are told not to address the children as boys and girls but rather say "friends". This is because if a girl wants to be a boy then you don't want to offend them. WHAT!! This is all SIN!! Most people would tell me I'm not opened minded enough. Why do I need to be opened minded to that sin and tell everyone that its OK to be gay and drink and to do bad things. Your either for Jesus or your against Jesus and I am definitely for Jesus. You can't have the best of both worlds you have to leave the empty pleasures of the world behind and comitt fully to Jesus.
I can't believe it took me almost a year to get to that book, I wish I had read it earlier. Everything happens for a reason in this life. People are put in your life for a reason, situations happen for a reason. Its not just coincidence, it's God's plan and his ultimate fate for this world and you. I will be honest, there have been days when I thought I was being punished for doing something, but that was so not the case. God puts you in situations that he knows you can handle, you might think that it is awful and that you won't make it but he is with you throughout the whole storm.
For days I have been praying and asking God what he wants me to do with this precious life he has given and I haven't gotten an answer yet. But I know it is coming and it will be something big and awesome. Back in March we went to a street fair and that's where we found the chickens. At first I thought Mike was joking but he kept telling me that there was something was telling him to get chickens and in big quantities. I was thinking yeah we are going be great at being chicken farmers. Last week received our biddies, all 25 and they are wonderful. Our coop is almost done and Mike wants to order another set of 25. I'm not sure what God wants us to do with these chickens but there's something at the end of all this that will be grand. Mike almost bought 2 goats the other day, for what reason I don't know that will come in time. This is all new to me and I have to trust in the Lord that he will guide us through this journey.
God made me pick up that book yesterday for a reason. Maybe it was to renew my faith or to commit totally to him and not worry, that he would take care of me. I still have the need of wanting to minster to others especially people battling bad habits and that came from broken homes. Maybe us getting chickens and selling the eggs is going to help us minister to those we meet. Who knows, only God.
I have deleted this post many times as so I don't offend anyone but I have thought about this post for two whole days and I know there are some people that need to read this or need Jesus in their life. He has done wonders for me and blessed me in ways I never imagined. He can do the same for you if you just let him in your heart and leave the pleasures of this world behind.
.....everyone deserted me...But the Lord stood by my side and gave me strength. - 2 Timothy 4:16-17

Fingerprint Friday

There is a song by Steven Curtis Chapman that says:
I can see the fingerprints of God
When I look at you
I can see the fingerprints of God
And I know it's true
You're a masterpiece
That all creation quietly applauds
And you're covered with the fingerprints of God
My beautiful baby brother Ronald!! He finds the good in every person even if they have done him wrong. He always has a smile on his face and can make you laugh at the drop of a hat. I love him with all my heart and soul. He is my light, my world, my everything. Babies grow up too fast!! He was a servant for the Lord this summer and Loved it!!

New yummies

First ever FuNkY KnOtTy TuLlE NeCkLaCe!!! I used tulle throughout both of these little fancy's. This first necklace is my scrap happy design. I used five different fabric scraps and love how it came out. Both of these necklaces are great early Fall pieces.
Love the ties on this one. Yellow and aqua, great with jeans and a white tee shirt.

Here you see the tulle in between each bead and knot. I love how this turned out and looks so vintage!

I used my favorite swirly and little flower fabric on the sides.

Be Scrap Happy and get yours today.

Funky knotty purple love necklace. I love purple and when I saw this fabric I knew I needed to make a necklace and other yummies! Tulle is used throughout this necklace as well.

Again I think this would look very hip and trendy with jeans and a tee or with a boho skirt and jean jacket.

I thought with this one I would add a few small glass beads to the ties and add a little flair. Love how the tulle and the beads add flavor to the back of this fancy.

Purple Love is calling your name and she needs a home where she will be worn with love.
I have some new designs coming next week. These are something you have never seen in a regular store and I can't wait to finish them up to show you.

Georgia, Chirpy and Sam the Seagull

Georgia my sweet little chicken walking the edge of the biddy coop!
Chirpy, looking right at me, is for sure our rooster! We'll know when we hear a cockadoodledo in a few months.

And Sam the Seagull at the Kure Beach Pier in NC. He is there every year we go always sitting and waiting for a fish for lunch.
More pictures of the chickens to come tonight. We are taking weekly pictures to watch how they grow and Mike wants me to make him a little scrap book of our first set of chickens.

Paint chip love

Over the past month we have been in and out of Home Depot and Lowe's on our quest to price and buy supplies for our upcoming chicken coop. On our way out I would ask Mike to walk with me to the paint department so I could grab some paint samples. I have been looking for the perfect color to paint a 1920's sewing table Mike bought me at Christmas and I think I am going with either a coral pink or a peacock blue. After many a trip to the hardware stores to buy wood, chicken wire and nails I became obsessed with how many paint chips I could get while in there. I find a new color every single time, oh the joy. Anyways I have now acquired quite a few stacks of paint chip samples and have actually found a purpose for them. Not that they didn't have a purpose to begin with but I am thinking of hosting a embellished Halloween paint chip swap. I haven't hashed out all the details but I think it would be a cool way of using those paint chips and seeing what others can create as well. So... stay tuned within the week for a maybe posting of a new swap. In the meantime Mike says I can't hoard anymore paint chips because he caught an employee looking at me on Saturday as I gleefully was talking to myself about embellishing a paint chip called Pumpkin for Halloween.

Open Faced Sandwich

Open Faced Sandwich
1 tomato sliced
slice of cheese
slice of lettuce
mayo
couple of sliced cucumbers
2 strips bacon
2 pieces of bread
Set oven to 350 degrees. Spread mayo over your pieces of bread. Add lettuce, tomato cheese and cucumbers to each piece. Place in oven until lightly browned and cheese has melted. I use precooked bacon so I warm that up in the microwave while the sandwiches are in the oven, then I place it on top of the two sandwiches.
Now you have made your first open faced sandwich. Enjoy!

Yellow Bird and Little Jane

Meet yellow bird!!! I have fallen in love with making these necklaces. They are so fun and funky to make! This is a great late summer into early fall necklace.

Meet little Jane! This necklace reminds me of a little girl named Jane in a twirly skirt. I used two different kinds of fabric to make this little gem sweet.

I love these little necklaces, they are too fun.

The Real me

I read Crystal's blog everyday and I love it!!! She is true Christian woman and is a great mother. And her children are too cute and precious. Today she did a post on how God sees you and how he made you beautiful in his image. A few years ago you would not have caught me without makeup, hair done and a dressed to the nine's outfit. Today I could care less what people think of me. You can now find me with usually no makeup on, half done hair and our company shirt and some old shorts on. This is how God made me and You, naturally beautiful. Please visit Crystals blog at www.LittleBitFunky.blogspot.com or scroll down and you can find her on my blog list. You take her challenge and see how it makes you feel.

We are officially chicken farmers

Meet the little hens!!! They arrived yesterday and I fell in love! I have already named them and know which is which by their different markings. They are so cute and humble. Mike is going to hand train them so he can pick them up when they get older. Just looking at what a beautiful creature God made is amazing.
Meet Powder Puff, she is the next to the smallest whom we named Baby because she let Mike hold her for a long time. Powder Puff is fluffy and round and that's how she got her name. Look at her little eyes and beak, too cute!

Here is Chirpy, well because she chirps a lot and gets on top of the water holder and acts like she is telling all the others where to go. She even likes to pose for the camera, look at her little feet. More pictures to come!
I see a lot of cool summer nights sitting in the barn talking, drinking sweet tea, listening to the preacher on the radio and watching the chicks. Life can't get any sweeter!

Queen of McDonalds

28 years ago a beautiful baby won the prettiest baby contest at the local McDonald's. That baby was me! I don't remember having the party at the McDonald's but I'm told it was a pink loving bash and I wore a gold paper crown and a pink fluffy dress. There is a picture of my dad holding me and I have my arm stretched out, my hand in a fist and I am giggling about something. I was a very happy baby and always posing for the camera. I'm guessing this is where my love for McDonald's came from. I love me a happy meal, quarter pounder and the chicken mcnuggets. At my party my whole family came and of course we ate McDonald's food. I wish I had the picture of my dad holding me because it is a true photo of how I act, funny and full of life. I'll look for it at my mom's house and scan it in sometime this week! Just thought I would let y'all know that your talking to the real Queen of McDonald's!

Black Beards Bride and Pink Paisley

Meet Paisley, Pink Paisley. This is my first ever pillowcase dress, yes you read that right my friends. I made this dress way back in March but never posted it because I couldn't figure out the size for a child. So today I just said the heck with it and measured it length and width wise and now it can go to a home who can let their precious baby from God wear it proudly.
Meet Black Beards Bride, the funky knotty necklace! This necklace was inspired by the beach and my beloved Black Beards Bride store, located in Wilmington NC, that is now closed due to the stinky economy.

Isn't she cute in all her black and white glory!

Run quickly to my site, www.LittleSundaysStudio.etsy.com to snatch this little fancy up!

I have a few more funky knotty necklaces hitting the shop next week in trendy more colors and designs!

A haunting...revised

Me as a little devil. I had glitter eye shadow, red spray in my hair and pitch fork and pointy tail.

Ever since I was little I have always loved ghost stories, Halloween, scary movies(mild ones) and walking through graveyards to see who lies beneath. When I met Mike he introduced me to a whole new world of real life haunting's down in Wilmington NC. We go on the Ghost of Old Wilmington quite frequently and Mike has made friends with the owner and our favorite guide, also named Mike. I don't find the whole being frightened by ghosts all that appeasing but more of the history and the learning of the families and why people think they still haunt a particular area. When I was little and school went back into session in September, I knew three of my favorite holidays would be taking place. First my birthday which is September 23, my sister's birthday on October 15 and my favorite Halloween. In September I would start planning my costume and making all sorts of fall and Halloween decorations. One year my mom bought me a kit that you could make a witch mask and paint. I loved it and to this day I don't know what happened to her, Ethel was her name and I think she might have gotten tossed in the trash when we moved ten years ago. I'm not sure how my love affair with Halloween started, it could have been because my mom would make us the most elaborate costumes you have ever seen and we would listen to Micheal Jackson's Thriller and her other scary music tape all day on Halloween.

This week I started reading some of our books we got in Wilmington about the haunted Cape Fear and my favorite book called Ghosts of Old Wilmington written and signed by the owner of the Ghost Walk. Two years ago we were in his group and after about a two half hour tour he gave us books and signed ours. It reads, To Mike and Molly, wishing you many happy haunts and nightmares ~ John. We love this book and keep it on our coffee table. Re-reading some of these books has re freshened my memory about some of the tales of haunt and fright and memories of me and Mike at the beach listening to the tales.

So now on to my little haunt that has conjured up many a conversation. Last week I told of hearing footsteps in my hallway and hearing a shuffling of something around our bed. Yesterday afternoon as I was having a cup of tea and reading I thought I heard something in the hallway again. I looked up and nothing, I began reading again. A few minutes later I heard the shuffling and looked up. When I looked up I felt the hairs on my neck stand up and I felt very cold. The odd thing about this is I felt calm and no fear. I am wondering who this haunt is and why they are here. Maybe I will find out soon until then I'll have to wait.....

Until I haunt again ~ Gal Molly

My husband has some Famous Roots

Mike has this picture of Jay and Ricky Steamboat hanging in his office! Jay is on the left and Ricky is on the right.
Clay Aiken played a many a tonka truck games with Mike!

In few posts last summer I talked about how Jay Youngblood was my husbands brother in-law. If none of you know who he is, he is a famous wrestler. Last night Mike talked a lot of him and this thus sparked me to write a post about his experience. Mike is the whole cause of his sister meeting him. One night while at a wrestling match, Mike ran off and his sister chased him and she bumped into Jay. From then on love was alive. Jay would come and eat lunch with at school and let him ring the bell at all his matches. Mike has met a slew of wrestlers including Ric Flair (his all time favorite), Dusty Rhodes and so on. Now I know why he loves wrestling so much!

I might also need to add that he is related to Clay Aiken. I know right, I was blown away when he told me five years ago when we met and thought he was just saying that to keep getting dates. Mike's brother married Clay Aiken's sister and so that's how they are related. So me being nosey and all asked him if they ever hung out or whatnot. He said they used to play together at his brothers house and hung out with all the cousins. I am not trying to brag but I think it's kinda cool that my husband, all the way from Benson NC (Johnston county), farm country, home of big trucks and cows, is related to very famous people. Very cool in my book!!

I wonder how many people are related to famous people if they did their family tree? Hmmm, I'd like to look at mine :)

Mexi~Can Pizza & Iced Fruit Lollies

Summer brings out the Mexi in me and I start craving tacos and doing my Mexi dance. The other night I was experimenting in the kitchen with a new recipe that is to die for....Mexi~Can Pizza. It took only a few minutes to throw together and tastes divine.

Mexi~Can Pizza

1 box jiffy pizza dough mix

quarter cup of mild salsa

shredded cheese

diced bell peppers

ground beef

crushed tortilla chips (finely chopped)

diced tomato

Mix jiffy dough according to box. Spread salsa over dough and add ground beef and bell peppers. Spread tortilla chips over top and add diced tomato and shredded cheese to top layer. Bake according to jiffy mix instructions.

Enjoy!

Summer also brings out my urge to do the iced lolly dance on a hot July day. These fruit lollies are too easy and taste out of this world. All you need is a Popsicle or lolly mold or disposable paper cups, wooden sticks, any clear fruit juice and some of your favorite fruit.

Strawberry~White Grape Juicy Iced Lollies

1 1/2 cups sliced strawberries, halved

4 1/2 cups white grape juice

8 paper cups

8 wooden sticks

Divide sliced strawberries among paper cups. Now pour in juice and insert your wooden sticks. Freeze for at least 6 hours. Let stand for about 5 minutes before unmolding. Makes 8 fruity lollies and freezes beautifully :)

Faith...like potatoes

I love this picture of shug and shugette. Too cute and so genuine! Last night we watched for the 3rd, yes I said 3rd, time the movie Faith Like Potatoes. I love this movie and fall in love with God all over again every time I watch it. You need to run to your local Christian book store or movie rental store and watch it, you will be amazed at this true story. I look at my faith in God just like the title says, Faith Like Potatoes. When you plant a potato you can't see it grow unlike corn, beans or tomatoes, because they grow under ground. You just have to have Faith that they are growing and you have a wonderful harvest. My Faith is like that with God, I may not can see him but I know he is there and will guide through life. I may not know what he has in store for us when he tells us do something but in the end we reap the fabulous results. Two months ago Mike, me and Ronald went to our local Meet in the Street, which is where local artists, farmers and vendors setup and sell their items. It is fun all around. I met a miniature horse named Sassy that had been rescued from a bad home, I wanted to take her home. Ronald also bought some coins from around the world and later realized he had some awesome finds and looked them up in a book to research them. This is also where we discovered chickens. Mike saw them from across the street and ran to them. We met a man that had put together a book full of advice for getting a permit for your chickens and building a coop. Since we live in the country we don't need to get permission from neighbors if we can have chickens, we are actually looking at cattle (more on that later). Mike talked to the man for about 30 minutes and bought his book. We even went to his house and looked at his chickens and got a feel of their lifestyle. When we were driving home I asked Mike what he was thinking and he told me that he had been praying for a while about something he though God was telling him. For the past six months we have been trying to cut our bills so if the economy gets any worse we would be able to live. He said he wanted to chickens for eggs and I thought well at least we won't have to buy them at the grocery store. A few days later Mike told me he wanted to sell the eggs and donate some of them to local shelters and families that needed them. I thought this was great but was wondering how many chickens we would need to supply that thought. About a month ago Mike ordered 25 chickens and they will be arriving next week. Our next quest was to build a biddy coop. Mike pondered on this for weeks before he came up with what he wanted it to look like. We ended up at the Home Depot and got all of our supplies for $30, we found their rummage bin and found everything we needed with the exception of the chicken wire. Mike came home and built the biddy coop within an hour. Mike wants 5 coops and to be able to setup at farmers markets, sell to local stores and to donate the eggs to shelters and families that need the eggs. When are little biddy's arrive we will have six weeks to build their coop, so Mike had been planning and drawing what he wants it to look like. I'm not sure where this will all lead but I know God has a plan for us. Sometimes you might think it's crazy but there is always a purpose in what God sets out for our lives. You just have to have Faith...like Potatoe's!

oh what you say.....funky new stuff huh?! and a beach babe..

Here's my baby Ronald giving me the peace sign, isn't he precious.
Messy rhinestone dear pin just hit the shop, so run don't walk and snatch it up. It has 6 layers of tulle and trendy fabric all held together with a rhinestone button and flat back pin. I made one for my baby sister and she has it on her jean jacket, too cute!

Funky knotty necklace just graced herself into my shop as well on this lovely July afternoon. I used a aqua polka dotted fabric and a cute little jungle print. The jungle print has a green alligator, hot blue iguana and a pink hippo on it. I made one for myself last weekend to celebrate out lovely country and had the most gracious compliments. So again I say run don't walk , over to my shop and snatch it up.
I will have more funky knotty necklaces next week with more fabrics to choose from.
