Prayers needed for the Collins family

As you all know from alot of posts past me and Mike used to own 2 routes at FEDEX Ground and then sold them because of the unfair treatment we received by management and not being paid for stops and boxes and what nots. Anyways while we worked their for two and a half years we made friends with alot of other contractors and their families since they were like us and owned multiple routes alot of wives like me drove for their husbands and they also had other family members working with them as well. Well about two weeks ago we saw Curtis one of the drivers at FEDEX and we got to talking and what not. Well Curtis proceeds to tell us how bad things have gotten there, like bad loads, having to reload your truck every morning and having your contract threaten because you were fighting for your money and wanting your truck loaded correctly. So I told Curtis I would pray for him and the situation there. Well yesterday Mike saw him and found out that they took the contract from Chuck Collins in which Curtis drove for and all of his other five routes. So now Curtis, the Collins family and all the other drivers that he had working for him are now jobless. I can honestly tell you I hate FEDEX Ground and will never ship anything with them again. I know I sound bitter but you do no understand what we and many other drivers went through. I mean how you go to sleep at night knowing you just took a mans LIVELIHOOD from him all because he was fighting for a just cause. You should look up all the lawsuits that are against them for contractors not being paid, bad loads and discrimination. I knew the day I took my little dog up there to wait for Mike and she saw the pencil pusher manager and barked like nobody's business, that she sensed EVIL. I am so glad that we decided to join the lawsuit against these awful people, because you can't treat people like this, it's 2009 for gees sake, you can't get away with this crap. My body will never be the same and it's not because I lifted heavy packages it's from having to reload a friggin truck every morning with my husband for two and a half years because a DRUNK loaded it and the manager didn't want to do anything about it and I don't want to ever hear "it's your load chart', no fool it's you and this company for not wanting to hire proper employees. I am not judging but just because you have a degree on the wall does not make you have COMMON SENSE. I come from a middle class hard working family and when I see unjust somebody needs to be held accountable. So anyways enough about my soapbox I just wanted to let you know where I was coming from, please pray for the Collins family and all his employees that lost their jobs because of a worthy cause and an UNJUST. It is true just like Christians you will be persecuted for believing and fighting for what is right and true.

Fireproof

Happy Friday!!! Yesterday I went and bought the new movie Fireproof and let me just say I was crying only 1 second into the movie. My little brother is actually in school to be a firefighter and I guess it just got to my heart because I worry about him ( he's like me very determined when he wants something ).This movie was AWESOME, although I cannot put my feet in their shoes because me and Mike are not like usual couples. We never fight over anything, we do EVERYTHING TOGETHER, we love God and we COMMUNICATE. The one that I saw in the beginning of this movie was that they had no communication. I didn't understand that because me and Mike have the best communication, we talk about everything. Anyways this movie not only wants to make you closer with your husband or wife but it made want to get closer to my family. I mean we spend time together but I got this sudden urge to be closer to them. Maybe that sounds strange but I felt like God was speaking to me through this whole movie. There are a million things I want to do with my family but never seem to have the time. So last night I told Mike that I think we should start just making the time to call more although me and my dad talk about 3 times a day and I call my mom all day to check on her and the kids and please don't get me started on how many times me and Mike talk over the course of the day, it's ridiculous. All I'm saying is this, take one step at a time and do the small stuff, like write a note to say i love you or I was thinking of you. I always write my brother and sister notes and leave them in places that they will find later in the day (desk, lunch box, book bags, etc). Life is too short not to want to love and be loved and to certainly know Christ. My walk has deepen with him in the past year and I couldn't be happier. Please go and rent or but this movie it will make you think about your life. My dad and step mom are doing the Love Dare bible study at their church and my dad has told me that it will change your life. I hope you all have a great weekend and please watch this movie with your family, it will make you think.

Update on my sissy

Hi! Here is the latest update on my baby sister. My mom has gotten in touch with her teachers and they are monitoring her throughout the day to see which little girls are still taunting her. And the most important update is that Elizabeth is now eating regular portions and slowly gaining weight. I have been helping my mom for weeks by talking to Elizabeth and helping her pack her lunch and snacks. Her teacher has told my mom that Elizabeth was eating alone but now has gradually went back to sit with her friends. I don't understand how kids can be so cruel and hurtful. Elizabeth is so sweet and wants to be everybody's friend. She still only orders a turkey sandwich with carrot sticks when we go out to eat but at least she eats the whole plate full. She still needs your prayers as this is going to be a long journey for our family. I hope and pray that God will keep giving her the strength to not listen to these little girls and to love who she is. Thank you so much for praying for my sister, if you ever met her you would love her.

Prayer Warriors needed ASAP

Hello my dear readers I need your prayers in the most awesome way right now. My little sister Elizabeth, or Debwee as Ronald would say, he couldn't say Elizabeth when he was little so he called her Debwee (pronounced Da Bwee), she is need of your prayers. As you all know my sister is deaf but has two cochlear implants so she can hear and talk just like we can. Anyways if you have ever grown up knowing a deaf person you know that they are very visual people, meaning that they focus on "seeing" things as this helps them to figure out what is going on. Well as you can tell my sister is very beautiful, she looks like a model in her bikini at the beach, shes just very gorgeous. Well recently I have noticed that she has lost some weight and I asked my mom about it. Well it seems that these little girls at school are taunting her and calling her fat, which she is not, and also making fun of her implant, so now when she is introduced to new people she doesn't want them to know that she is deaf. So inevitably she is now watching every mouthful that she eats and was under weight at her physical last week. So I need, SHE needs your prayers desperatly for the Lord to give her wisdom to feel better about herself and to stop watching everything she eats and to be proud of WHO SHE IS. I have told you all this story a 1000 times but she is like my own baby since I helped my mom raise her and it breaks my heart to see her going through this. She is so smart and can do anything she sets her mind to, she even helps Ronald with his 7Th grade math and she is only in 4TH grade. She will go very far in life despite her so called disability. I love my little Debwee and how she has changed my life in more ways than I can count. She has been there when my friends weren't there for me and has always been my Best Friend till the end. She has been my shopping buddy, she has helped load vending machines when I was running behind, she was with me when my appendix ruptured last year and has always been my "pew" buddy at church (but don't tell the preacher we sometimes play hang man and ask each other what we want to eat for lunch when service is over), we even had the same dress at my wedding. As you can tell we are truley sisters til the end and WE need your prayers in the worst way. Thank you so much for taking the time to read this.

Writers' block maybe?

OK people I think I might have a case of the writers' block syndrome (is it a syndrome, who knows). For days on end I have been trying and trying to figure out what to write and how I can spice up my blog for yes you, my public. I have changed blog templates upon end, added pictures of last year to maybe inspire some sort of writing or story to come to mind, but nothing. I could write about how I need to desperately find a new shade of coral nail polish or find a new pair of jeans or go get my weekly fix of anything crafty at the Michael's or Hancock Fabric, but that to me is boring and who wants to read about that anyway. SO that is why I need you yes you my friends of mine. Is there anything you would like me to write about, politics, gossip, latest shoe findings (although I have a fetish for purses) or anything else under the sun. I ratted my brain out last night trying to find my "favorite finds" but to my avail there weren't any and that's because you actually have to buy or use your "favorite finds". So my friends, my public, my BFF's I am asking you to help me get out of this writer's block syndrome and let me be free to write whatever suits my fancy again.

Mary,Mary

Please excuse the old school Back Street Boys song but this post is dedicated to my best friend Mary. Yes me and Mary go way back to ripe old age of 14. We met in 9Th grade and have been friends ever since. She and I were in the band together, ate lunch together and even skipped school together to get coffee at Starbucks, HEHE. Mary now lives in Tallahassee, Florida and I miss her so. This song is dedicated to her because it was the first Back Street Boys concert we went to and there were many more after that. She had a white Ford Escort that had a fan for her and one for me because her AC went out and that's how we rolled, yeah we were cool like that. Riding around hollering at cute guys, midnight Kroger runs, egging peoples houses (yeah only ex-boyfriends), Old Navy runs for overalls (they were in style in 1996) and the occasional hiding in the trunk for open lunch at school. Friday night football games and Burger King afterwards, Halloween parties, my 16Th birthday and then hanging out on the famous Franklin Street. And who could forget the night we talked to those guys at the stoplight and went to their house 30 minutes away only to find out they were our rival high school, oh and don't forget the Homestead Hotel (Mary you know what I am talking about). Yes me and Mary had some awesome times on Franklin Street, HAHA. So this song goes out to my Mary Metropolis (her nickname) for all the AWESOME times we shared and hopefully many more.

Flea Market Friday

Happy Friday fellow friends!! I have been stalking a certain blog for quite some time now and are ready to confess who it is, embers at typepad. She is awesome and totally rocks. I am participating in her year long journaling challenge. I have been wanting to journal my life but could not figure out where to start so when I saw her challenge I just couldn't help myself. The neat thing about it is that you choose your own media or you can go to her etsy shop and buy a neat little kit. I urge you all to check her out and join the self journal challenge as well. You can click on her blog by scrolling down to my daily ramblings section and she under the name of "em". Hope you all have a "fantabulous" weekend, I'm off to scrap and make some awesome creations for my shop and maybe possibly get some quick photos of the new chickens that just came by for some bread and corn.

Potluck Thursday

Here is my duck, geese whatever you call it, Ella her husband Charlie ran off from me taking his photo, so maybe I'll get him later. Ella and Charlie always meet me when I am driving down the path to come home, they wait at my porch for bread crumbs in the morning . I love these little geese or ducks whatever you call them that live with us, they surly make my day.

Here are Ella and Charlie's extended family that come to eat with them everyday. Clockwise from the left is Mildred, Myrtle, Melfred and Millie.

OK so for the last three days I have been in the same PJ's and not fixed my hair, makeup and what have you. I was trying to upload my pictures to etsy all day yesterday and had no luck. So my sweet loving husband who has put up with me and my crazyiness has gone to the camera store to see how to make our pictures smaller, due to their uploading program on etsy. So no I do not have any pictures in my shop as of yet but by the graces of God maybe I will tonight.

Trendy Tuesday

Just look at those Finger waves, I loved doing them in beauty school and actually was the best in my class. Wow that so sounded like something from the Beauty School Dropout song HEHE.
Did you know that the Bobbie Pin was invented because of the "bob"!

Here are the first ads of hair extensions debuting in the 1920's. Queen Mary preferred if ladies that had short hair try to conceal it at court functions and royal ceremonies.

Famous flappers and actress' like Louise Brooks and Clara Bow even got "bobed" setting off a "bobing" frenzy amongst the young ladies.

Did you know that the bob was invented in the 1900's and became all the rage of the 20th century. For as long as I can remember I have always had my hair cut in some type of "bob" length. Beings my mom is a hair designer, I have never been scared to try anything new, I mean I had my first perm when I was 2 and let me just say I loved it. I know a regular two year old would not remember such a thing but I do. OK enough about me and back to the "bob". In 1915 a dancer by the name of Irene Castle cut her hair for the "convience" but little did she know that her new "do" would be known as the Castle Bob. The bob is a simple hair cut with it's length just below the ears and blunt. You could wear it with bangs or not, your choice. During the 20's if you cut your hair into a "bob" style you were considered bold, youthful and rebellious. F. Scott Fitzgerald even wrote a short story about the famous "bob" titled "Bernice Bob's her hair". It was published in the Saturday Evening Post on May 1 1920. Eventually hair dressers had to succumb to the "bob" style because the barbers were taking all of their clients. All in all I love the "bob" style and will continue to keep my hair that way. My mom is doing my hair on Thursday so I will have to post some picks of my "bobed" do'. Until then ladies why not try it for yourself.

Happy New Year

My baby Ronald!!!

Happy New Year!!! My New Years Eve was a night full of parties, sorry no I kid I kid. I met my mom and the kids for dinner and then was in the bed by 8:30. I woke up to watch the ball drop and then fell back to sleep. Wow I know how could I keep up, HEHE!

In the next coming days I will have some of my products posted and on my web page. It has taken me longer than I had expected but I think you all will enjoy it. I will have a plethora of items to your liking and some vintage items as well.

Most of my items are made of vintage materials as well as recycled materials. I have some pictures that Mike has taken of churches in Wilmington that I will have too. I hope everyone has a splendid weekend and I have a ton of pictures from the holiday that I will post too. On Sunday we went to WWE Smackdown for my little brother and sisters Christmas and had a blast.
