Sunday Night Gospel Sing

I feel like running to the hill tops and shouting out how much I love our new church. Today we joined only after visiting for a month! Everybody there is so loving, kind and sweet. It is a small southern baptist church that has everything we love, Sunday night service as well as Wednesday night service. Oh I can't tell you how much I love this church. I LOVE IT, WE LOVE IT!!! Tonight we had a southern gospel singer and a covered dish supper after. It was so fun fellowshiping with everyone, I wish my mom, sister and brother could have come. Mike loves gospel music and anything to do with southern preaching. I am off to bed, I will post some pictures of my new funky fall hobo bags tomorrow. I can do custom work if ya want!! Love you my bloggy friends!!!

Ella

Meet Ella my Chinese Goose! She is my little morning buddy and my walking buddy. Me and Mike have taught her to eat her food out of a bowl. I love to hear her swish her water in her mouth and watch her eat her little chicken mesh.
I love her blue eyes, they are so crystal clear and sparkly.

Here is a picture of her feet, they are too cute! I love how orange her beak and feet are. She has her own little eating schedule, breakfast at 10 and dinner at 7. When we come down the long dirt path she is there to greet us and follow us down to the house. We are still trying to find her a mail order husband, so when we get him I'll post pictures of their little ceremony :)

Wordful Wednesday

Oh my sweet little husband. He is so kind, loving, giving and funny. This picture was taken after the ceremony in the courtyard of our old church. I had started crying because he told me he looked over during the ceremony and saw my dad crying and then saw my baby sister Elizabeth looking a little sad. She knew I was getting married but with not having a lot of language at that time, I don't think she quite understood that I would be leaving home. When I started to really let the tears come down he made some kind of joke and in this picture we are laughing at whatever he said. I hate that I can't remember what he said to make me laugh. Any time God puts a storm in our way He also puts the humor in my "Mikey" to help us get through whatever storm we are in. That's one of the things I love most about Mike, his sense of humor. Not a day goes by that we don't laugh until our bellies hurt. I am so thankful that God gave us laughter and joy in our marriage. We have been best friends since the day we met and I am so grateful to have that.

Yummy recipe on the cheap!

Ever since I can remember I have ate a yummy pasta dish my mom would make me and my sister as a quick meal on school nights. Tuna, peas and noodles is what she called it. She said she learned the recipe from her roommate in college. Its so easy to make and you can add just about anything to it, cheese, mixed veggies or spices. Here is my favorite version:
Tuna, Peas and Noodles
1 can tuna
1 can peas
half a bag of noodles or your fave pasta
one big spoonful of mayo (I prefer Dukes thanks to my granny)
Cook your pasta as usual. Drain and place in a large bowl. Drain tuna and peas and place in with pasta. Add big ol' spoonful of mayo and mix until well blended. I usually eat this with crackers or croissants.

Sweet Babies

Did you miss me? Well this past week I have been spending time with my brother and sister. We have built forts in my mom's living room, ate at Subway too many times to count and watched forty eleven movies. Tuesday my brother Ronald told me he had Jesus in his heart, he's so sweet and loving. I could just eat him, I love him so much. I taught Elizabeth how to make felt baby birds and she wants to have her own etsy page! I could eat her too :) ! This past week was so much fun and I wouldn't have had it any other way. Friday they both received pre-school injuries. Every year they seem to get injured right before school, don't know what the significance is of it but it happens. First Ronald cut his foot and then Elizabeth scrapped both her knees on gravel pavement. So hopefully they will be healed before school.
Please pray for my family as we are now dealing with some issues that regard Elizabeth and our past church. We are not sure how to go about reporting these accusations but justice needs to be served. I have cried and prayed for guidance on how me and my mom should go about this situation. It is very personal and very traumatizing to my baby sister. If you have any spare time to send up a small prayer for my family I would truly appreciate it.

BBQ Smoked Sausage baked in Mac & Cheese

I made this tonight and we LOVED it! I bought the Smithfields smoked sausage and cut it into pieces and browned it. I then put it in a bowl and stirred BBQ sauce over it and let it sit while I made my mac & cheese. I then placed my finished mac & cheese and sausage into a dish and stirred together. I placed bread crumbs over top and baked for about 15 to 20 minutes at 350 degrees. I served it with cob corn! Makes a whole bunch!
P to the S... Some cute glamorous brooches will hit the studio later this week! Oh and a one of a kind necklace too, can't wait for you to see!!

Funny Friday

A funny that I thought was appropriate for this week. Funny how God puts people and things in your life to help you overcome something. Yesterday my baby brother Ronald took this picture and posted it to facebook. When I found it, it lifted my spirits up and helped me get through the day. This is Elizabeth and this is how she rolls. Love it or leave it, this is the real thing! This is what you encounter with her on a daily basis, a carefree baby bird loving life. Happy weekend!

Shirley finally at home with the Lord

As I sit here and type this tears are streaming down my face. My best friend Shirley lost her second battle with cancer Tuesday morning. I got the message in an email from our old church yesterday afternoon. I sobbed for about an hour as Mike read what it said and held me as I cried for my friend. Shirley was an old maid that lived with her sister and their many dogs. We worked together on Wednesday nights in our church nursery. We talked about everything, she even helped me with wedding ideas four years ago. I could tell her anything and not have a feeling that she was judging me although many people judged her. Shirley had overcome cancer almost ten years ago and last summer it came back with a vengeance. Most kids were scared of her due to her having bald spots on her head from losing her hair to cancer, but she was loving and I loved her. Some people judged her by where she lived and what car she drove but not me. We were on the same page and knew where we had come from. She would often tell me about how her sister wanted "to go home first" because she didn't want to be alone. Her sister didn't get her wish. Shirley would come in on Wednesday nights with a circular from the mail and we would plan grocery trips for on sale items. I will miss our "Wednesday night chats", only she knows about those. I couldn't go to her funeral today because I am so over whelmed with emotion. You see I hadn't talked to Shirley in over a year. She stopped coming to church on Sundays due to feeling like she was lower than those that went to our church. Eventually I quit Wednesday nights when she did because I missed my friend. One Sunday last spring I saw her name on the prayer board in our fellowship hall. I asked another dear friend what was wrong with her and he had told me about her cancer coming back. I told him I would call Shirley to see how she was doing, I never made that phone call. A week later my appendix ruptured and I was sick all summer long and then got busy with my life. I forgot Shirley, my non judging friend, my Wednesday night buddy. I hope she knows just how much she impacted my life and I will cherish her friendship forever. I wish I had seen her one last time to tell her goodbye and that I would see her soon when I get to Heaven. I wish I had made that phone call and talked to her. Shirley my friend you will truly be missed by me and our secret chats on Wednesday nights are safe with me. Love you Shirley!

Last days of summer and a shabby headband

With only two weeks before shug and shugette go back to school, they are soaking every last minute in. Ronald found out his homeroom teacher yesterday and Elizabeth is busy watching movies all day. Here they are at the beach a week ago boogie boarding and searching for shark's teeth. Now if they could just shrink back to being babies and snuggling in bed with me, but God has his own plan for their little precious lives.
Here is my latest creation, Satiny Shabby Yellow Headband. I made one for Elizabeth and her little friend to wear to school, they loved them. I used yellow satin fabric to cover the headband and then hand sewed the blooms on the side. I am making more in different colors and for the upcoming holiday's. Like my model, shes from beauty school ten years ago. I used her for hair pieces and wigs, love her. I lost my model head that had hair on it when I got married and moved from my mom's house. May she rest in peace in hair heaven:) More yummies coming to the shop tomorrow, hopefully I'll get rid of this sinus infection soon, it's dragging me down. Happy Wednesday!!!

Yellow Bird Cocktail and Yummy Yogurt Dip

I was recently in a "y" recipe postcard swap. The theme of the swap was to find a few recipes that started with the letter "y". I found two and loved them. The first one was yummy!
Yummy Yogurt Dip
8oz plain yogurt
1/3 teaspoon dill weed
1/2 cup shredded cucumber, drained
1/3 teaspoon rosemary
Combine all ingredients and mix well in a pretty bowl. Serve with crackers and veggies!
Yellow Birds (non alcoholic)
1 60z can frozen orange juice concentrate, thawed and undiluted
2 1/4 cups water
1 1/2 cups pineapple juice
1 to 1 1/2 cups light rum or flavored Seltzer water; both optional
3/4 creme de bananas
Combine all ingredients; stir well and serve over ice.
Yields 6 1/2 cups
Loved both of these recipes and so did my recipients! Tomorrow I will post a couple of my newest designs for fall, so stay tuned.

Paper Flowers

Angie over at www.angelicagracedesigns.com/blog/ is doing a neat idea for Fridays called Foto Friday. Each Friday she will host a new theme to get you out and about using your camera to capture the beauty and little things in life. This weeks theme was flowers. I have absolutely no flowers only chicken coops and woods! My baby sister Elizabeth made a trio of flowers for me when I got married and placed a tiny baby inside one of the flowers. I found the baby two years later when I accidentally knocked them over and I saw a baby fall out, HA HA. I love this little arrangement and plan to have on my coffee table years come!

An engagement story

Five years ago on a hot August afternoon, I was sitting in the lobby of my baby sister's dance studio with Mike. We had only been dating for three months and knew we were going to get married. We had actually started looking at rings at our local jewelers. On that hot August afternoon me and Mike looked at each other and asked in unison "you want to get married?". I laughed and then Elizabeth came running out to me and nothing else was said about the engagement. That Sunday Mike joined our church and announced that we were getting married. I missed it due to being in children's church.
The day I met this man I knew I wanted to be his wife. He has the kindest heart and soul and loves God. He loves my baby brother and sister like they were his own children. He dotes on me like I am a diamond and provides a faith loving household. I am so glad God put this man in life! Here's to 50 more years of loving you my love!
